Nugget in nightclub fracas: "No tables were flipped, no chairs tossed, and Carmelo Anthony neither landed nor weathered any punches during a New York nightclub fracas Monday, according to a witness and Anthony's agent.

But these facts are not in dispute: Anthony's MTV-hosting girlfriend, La La Vasquez, was spit on by her ex-fiance during a private bash Monday for rapper Swizz Beatz, the argument then spilled over to a New York hip-hop radio station - and the Nuggets star's offseason continues to be splashed with more drama than one of Beatz's hit songs."

READING, WRITING AND SHOPPING: "NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony was in town Tuesday to teach local kids a lesson about the importance of reading, but he still found time to hawk his pricey new sneakers and flaunt his expensive jewelry. The Denver Nuggets forward appeared at the NBA store on Fifth Avenue to read excerpts from his new autobiography, "It's Just the Beginning," to a young crowd. Anthony had to interrupt the reading when his enormous, diamond-encrusted medallion got caught in the microphone. He ceremoniously removed the iced-out necklace, and later put it around a dazzled preteen girl's neck. Anthony, who dropped out of college after just one year, closed the event with some wise words for the impressionable youths. "My new shoe drops in November. Go get it.""
